The Spark
LIMERICK NATIVES RELEASE A FIERY DEBUT
Fresh from putting multiple cyber-noses out of joint with their video for recent single ‘Traditions’, Limerick outfit Protobaby unveil their debut album The Spark and it’s full of incendiary indie anthems and stadium-straddling rock numbers that sound absolutely massive. ‘Only A Spark’ is worth the price of admission alone, whilst tracks such as ‘Slight Obsession’ sound a little like Interpol and Editors high on Skittles (never a bad thing in this reviewer’s book). Singer Colm McGuinness has a wonderfully evocative baritone and his performances really lift ‘Microchip,’ the aforementioned ‘Traditions’. This is an Irish band with real potential. Check them out.
