The Saw Doctors set to return to Mayo for the first time in 15 years
Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am and are priced from €46.20 - €51.20.
The Saw Doctors will play their first show in Mayo in over 15 years at the TF Royal, Castlebar on September 5.
'Green and Red of Mayo' by the band reached No.6 in the Official Irish Singles Chart in recent weeks, following Mayo's historic All-Ireland win at Croke Park that ended the 75-year 'curse' placed on the team in 1951.
Returning to the charts for the first time since its original 1992 release, the song reached No.1 on Spotify's Irish chart and No.1 on iTunes.
The song was written in 1990 after they had played a festival on Clare Island, off Mayo.
The eight-man band, formed in Tuam Co. Galway, consists of lead vocalist Davy Carton, guitarist Leo Moran, founding member and multi-instrumentalist Pearse Doherty, Anthony Thistlethwaite, Rickie O'Neill, Kieran Duddy, Tommy Carton and Noelie McDonnell.
They were discovered by Mike Scott of The Waterboys in 1980 and supported their Fisherman's Blues tour for six weeks in 1989, going on to support The Stunning and Hothouse Flowers. They rose to prominence with their second single 'I Useta Lover' in 1990.
"The Saw Doctors were one of my favorites at Electric Picnic," said British pop producer William Orbit of their past performance at the festival, before his recent passing.
The band are currently on tour across Ireland and the UK and are set to play Electric Picnic in Co. Laois on August 30.
"The Saw Doctors are trying to preserve the positive elements of our Irish background and marry them to the sounds which have culturally invaded our milieu through TV, radio, social media, 45’s, fast food restaurants, 24-hour petrol stations & electric blankets," guitarist Leo Moran shared.
Tickets go on sale on August 14 and can be purchased here.
