The Musings Of Monsieur Malloy
A promising debut, but Malloy must try harder.
Victor Malloy is a voyeur; apparently he likes observing other snippets of other people’s lives, listening in on make-ups, break ups and other personal conversations. In fact, all the time devoted to his voyeuristic hobby means his own debut album is good hen it could have been great. Consisting for the most part of jazzy, down tempo flavours highlights include the wide screen breaks of ‘I Rocked Shut’, the late jam of recent single, ‘Trying’ and the darkly atmospheric ‘Pussy’, but we could have done without meandering, aimless tracks like ‘Ebsteijn Bear’, and ‘Lone Wolf’. A promising debut, but Malloy must try harder.
