The Boo Radleys have announced their upcoming album In Spite of Everything, set to drop on May 1, via Boostr Records.
Alongside the announcement, the alternative rock band shared their newest single, ‘Living Is Easy’.
In Spite of Everything was written after the death of Tim Brown's eldest son, and ‘Living Is Easy’ is said to explore the overwhelming sense of grief and helplessness that comes with the loss of a loved one.
"At 2 am, sitting up and contemplating our loss during my child's wake, I found myself reflecting on all the major news events that had left their mark on me through the years and the helplessness I sometimes felt to change anything," said Brown.
"Writing the last verse was the most difficult and personal thing I've done. My child's journey and loss have changed me profoundly, but they also remind me, even in these darkest moments, of all I have to be grateful for.
"Through this song, I hope to honour their memory and the light they brought into our lives."
The Boo Radleys were formed in Wallasey, England, in 1988. They became associated with the shoegazing and Britpop movements in the 1990s.
The band split in 1999, stating that they had reached a natural conclusion. However, in 2021, the group reunited without guitarist Martin Carr.
Currently, The Boo Radleys comprises lead vocalist and guitarist Simon ‘Sice’ Rowbottom, bassist, keyboardist and guitarist Tim Brown, and drummer Rob Cieka.
Starting in May, the group will be on the road, including two headline shows in Ireland. With the support of The Wu, the band will perform at Dolan's, Limerick, on May 16, and at Whelan's, Dublin, the next day.
Tickets are available here.
