The Alarm frontman Mike Peters dies at 66
30 years after his diagnosis with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, Mike Peters has died.
Mike Peters, frontman of Welsh rock band The Alarm, has died aged 66, following a 30-year battle with blood cancer.
Peters was a founding member of The Alarm, which emerged in 1981 after a series of name changes and altered lineups of the original punk group The Toilets.
The band released their debut LP, Declaration, in 1984, having already built a transatlantic following with a support slot in U2's US tour the previous year.
The Alarm would go on to sell over 5 million albums, with 16 Top 50 singles in UK charts.
Peters left the band in 1991 to pursue a solo career, though he would continue work with The Poets of Justice. He later revived The Alarm in 2000.
In 1995, Peters was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, being diagnosed a decade later with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
Alongside his wife, Peters co-founded the Love Hope Strength Foundation, a charity which aimed to recruit bone marrow donors for cancer patients. They would campaign and fundraise through live shows.
In September 2024, Peters announced that he had entered remission following his participation in a clinical trial. Only a month later, his cancer returned, more aggressively than before.
Mike Peters is survived by his wife, Jules, and his children, Dylan and Evan.
