Thalia Heffernan on her unwitting celebrity status
Rising Irish model has no time for Irish celeb culture...
You're unlikely to see Thalia Heffernan in her smalls on Grafton Street any time soon.
Talking to Roe McDermott in the new issue of Hot Press, the up and coming model (a term she's not entirely comfortable with) waxes lyrical on the nature of Irish celebrity.
"Over here, the minute you get your name in the newspaper you're kind of skyrocketed to 'fame' - which I don't think exists, really. I'm at a weird small level of 'fame', where sometimes I get papped when I go out. It used to happen to me when I was in my school uniform, which was weird.
"It's very confusing. Lots of people say, 'Oh, you're a celebrity'. I don't feel it. I rarely go out. And when I do, I don't dress up. I keep myself low-key."
