Swell Season confirm new album details
The Swell Season have confirmed the release of their new album, Strict Joy, which will hit racks here on September 25 – a few weeks later than originally mooted.
The record derives its title from the work of the same name by Irish poet James Stephen, and was co-produced by Hansard and Peter Katis who worked with them in the same Bridgeport, Connecticut studio that has previously hosted The National and Interpol.
Additional musicians include Frames members Colm Mac Iomaire (violin), Joe Doyle (bass) and Rob Bochnik (guitar), plus guitarist Javier Mas (Leonard Cohen), pianist Thomas Bartlett (Doveman), percussionist Chad Taylor (Chicago Underground Duo), horn players Steven Bernstein and Clark Gayton from Levon Helm’s band, amongst other guests.
The full track-listing is ‘Low Rising’, ‘Feeling The Pull’, ‘In These Arms’, ‘The Rain’, ‘Fantasy Man’, ‘Paper Cup’, ‘High Horses’, ‘The Verb’, ‘I Have Loved You Wrong’, ‘Love That Conquers’, ‘Two Tongues’ and ‘Back Broke’.
