Sweeter As The Years Roll By
His pedigree is without peer, his recordings warm-hearted organic experiences which entice both casual listener and fellow musicians alike. James Keane's music is truly of the people, the generosity of his approach connecting several generations of Irish musicians.
His pedigree is without peer, his recordings warm-hearted organic experiences which entice both casual listener and fellow musicians alike. James Keane's music is truly of the people, the generosity of his approach connecting several generations of Irish musicians.
From the opening set of reels to the closing slow air, this is music filled with fascination and wonder, Garry O'Briain's piano and Donnachadha Gough’s bodhran rooting ‘Mrs.Crotty’ set in an older world cast, which contrasts beautifully with, say, a set like ‘Lough Mountain’, where he is joined by five young musicians fron the group Turas.
Central to the success of this project, of course, is the telepathic understanding forged with producer Garry O'Briain, whose lightness of touch brings a great sense of movement to the whole experience.
This is a lovely record, suffused with warmth and the richness of a tradition, brought to life in the hands of a master. Enjoy.
