Summer giggin for The Citadels
Cork band The Citadels have announced a series of headlining dates in Cork and Dublin
A name that seems to be cropping up in more and more live music listings is The Citadels - self-proclaimed as "Cork's rockiest six piece jazz-pop band" and looking likely to take the mantle as Cork's most hardworking band as they kick off a string of live dates this week.
Their debut album, Letting Go Holding On, has been pricking up radio ears both here (Today FM, 2FM, Red FM) and abroad (Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6) since it was released last year, and recent months have seen them playing support with everyone from Annette Buckley and Ger Wolfe in Cork to Damien Rice in Amsterdam.
This week you catch The Citadels playing as part of the Murphy's UnCorked Festival at Pa Johnsons (June 3), Costigans (4) and Mulligans (6), and then in a headlining capacity at Connollys of Leap (19); Charlies, Cork (July 2); The Blackbird, Ballycotton (July 3); The Hub, Dublin (6) and back in Cork at De Barras (24) and Charlies (31).
Meantime, you can download free tracks from The Citadels online.
