Sugababes’ member Amelle Berrabah has entered a secret health clinic somewhere in Europe suffering from a severe case of nervous exhaustion.
Her absence has resulted in the group cancelling their first live performance since a recent change in their line-up.
Berrabah's health difficulties are believed to have been caused by the pressures on her after original ‘Babe Keisha Buchanan claimed she was pushed out of the band in September to be replaced by Jade Ewen. Buchanan's voice had already been recorded for their next album, but will now have to be overdubbed.
The 25-year-old Berrabah was advised to take a break following medical advice earlier this week, and it’s believed she will stay at the health clinic for at least three weeks. Band performances in Leeds, a German TV show and a headline spot for the Scottish Royal Variety Performance have been cancelled pending a number of legal issues being finalised.
Sugababes formed in 1998 with Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy. Donaghy departed in 2001 to be replaced by Range, and in 2005 Buena was replaced by Berrabah.
