A NCH musical homage to the giant of screens big and small.
November 18 finds a star-studded cast of local and international musicians paying homage to extraordinary filmmaker David Lynch.
Lynch won't be in Dublin's National Concert Hall on the night – he's busy with a little thing called Twin Peaks – but Conor O'Brien (Villagers), Mick Harvey (ex-Bad Seeds), Sophia Brous (Brous), Cibo Matto, Jehnny Beth (Savages), Stealing Sheep, Kirin J Callinan and Stuart Staples (Tindersticks) all will, supported by a super band assembled and led by musical director David Coulter.
David Lynch's collaborations with composer Angelo Badalamenti have resulted in some of cinema and television's greatest soundtrack moments, and he's always had a great ear for a scene-defining tune ('In Dreams' now freaks us out, thanks Blue Velvet).
Expect covers on the night of the likes of Roy Orbison, David Bowie, Chris Isaak, Samuel Barber, Marilyn Manson and Elvis Presley, and those haunting Badalamenti themes.
In Dreams: David Lynch Revisited promises to offer the audience "the opportunity to immerse themselves into the mood and atmosphere of Lynch’s universe, with landmark instrumental tracks and exciting new versions of songs from his films."
Sounds like just the ticket, as the bequiffed one would say.
Tickets are priced at €27.50 and €42.50.
