Soundcloud subscription service for 2015
The music streaming website is joining forces with Warner Music Group
Soundcloud have announced that a new subscription service will begin in early 2015. The confirmation came as the ink dried on a deal with Warner Music Group.
Soundcloud is currently a completely free, ad-based service, but this deal will allow them to license music from one of the biggest labels on the planet; there were similar deals in place previously, but only with small, independent labels.
It is understood that Soundcloud - who posted significant losses last year - have included equity in the company as part of the deal. There's no updates as of yet on the financial implications for the users, so watch this space...
