Following a number of successful recent festival appearances, rising Irish star Somebody’s Child has now secured a prestigious support slot with All Tvvins on the latter’s Irish tour. There’s also a new video in the making and a single on the way...
Somebody’s Child has been announced as the support for All Tvvins, on a nine-date tour that will see the bands travel in tandem all over Ireland.
The tour opens with a date in Cyprus Avenue, Cork on Thursday October 3rd, and concludes at the end of October at the Sligo Live festival.
Fresh from appearances on the prestigious BBC Introducing Stage at Leeds and Reading festivals, and at Electric Picnic – where he also featured to greet acclaim in the Hot Press Chat Room – Somebody’s Child is currently shooting a video for their new single.
The single, entitled ‘Jungle’, is out on Oct 3rd.
“I’m trying to avoid my music being boxed in,” Somebody’s Child (aka Cian Godfrey) told Hot Press recently. “All my releases have been quite different – and my next one is even more so.”
The video for the single will be directed by Ross Dowling, who has worked with Talos and James Vincent McMorrow, among others. Somebody’s Child has been attracting a lot of attention in the UK, with top agents Steve Strange of X-Ray and James Whitting of Paradigm Talent Agency sharing duties in carving out the live career of the rising Dublin-based star-in-the-making.
Steve Strange has been unstinting in his praise of Somebody’s Child.
“I’ve represented a lot of Irish acts over the years, including Snow Patrol and Kodaline,” he told Hot Press. “Somebody’s Child could definitely be the next big one out of the trap. I feel that very strongly."
