The 140 character-forming interview...
@hotpress.ie: Hi Matt, how are you this morning?
@ffaf: Doing good, Just chilling here at home.
@hotpress.ie: Are you looking forward to the Indiependence festival?
@ffaf: Yeah, we’ve not done any major festivals in Ireland so it’s new territory for us.
@hotpress.ie Do you embrace the term post-hardcore?
@ffaf: I probably embrace it more than the term ‘emo’, haha. Post-hardcore is not a dirty phrase. We’re not quite punk and not quite hardcore.
@hotpress.ie: Which bands would have had the greatest impact on you?
@ffaf: My all-time favourite band is Bad Religion. Their influence is a major part of my life. I always go back to them.
@hotpress.ie: Who’s the oddest character you’ve met in music?
@ffaf: Weirdest is a guy called Mortiis, a Scandinavian musician who used to dress up as a goblin.
@hotpress.ie: Any encounters with him?
@ffaf: Yeah, I remember being at the urinal and him – in full goblin outfit – stepping in a having a piss beside me. Like Lord Of The Rings or something.

@hotpress.ie: Best festival story?
@ffaf: At Reading in ‘09, ours was the only set during which it rained. There was a massive power outage for 10 mins.
@hotpress.ie: Bit of a nightmare...
@ffaf: Not our finest hour but technically it wasn’t our fault. The weird thing was as soon as we got offstage it brightened up again.
@hotpress: Your video for ‘History’ focused on the Miners Strike in the ’80s. Did this have a big impact on you?
@ffaf: Yeah, a lot of my relatives would have suffered in that time. I was delighted to make video that says something about social history.
@hotpress: What’s your proudest moment since starting the band?
@ffaf: That we’re still going after 12 years. We’re still a relevant band. Not many groups can say that.
