Shaz Oye for Slane, RTÉ and her missing album!
Dublin singer-songwriter Shaz Oye is due to play Live at Boyles in Slane on Thursday, August 5.
The gig kicks off at 9pm and it’s free! As Oye told Hot Press, "This is a gorgeous venue, a real music lovers night. It fills up quickly, so get there early." The bill will also feature Jezzebelle, Enda Reilly and Aisling Kavanagh.
The Slane gig follows Oye's recent appearance at a fundraiser for One in Four at the Pepper Canister alongside Roddy Doyle, Joseph O'Connor, Christy Moore, Eleanor McEvoy, Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill and Don Baker. RTÉ recorded the event and will broadcast it in two one-hour segments over the next two Saturdays, starting on July 31 at 7pm.
Oye is also currently working on what she describes as her third album, her follow-up to her debut. As for what happened to album number two, Oye explains, "A combination of a lack of funds and family commitments meant it never got recorded/released. Musically, stylistically I’ve moved on, so there’s a body of work that I might revisit, but I won’t be recording just now." Oye will be gigging songs from the new album this autumn.
