Check out the details of the packed line-up below
Electric Picnic has announced their day-to-night lineup for Hazelwood/An Chollchoill, featuring Sacred Sites, Julie Goo, Imlé and John Spillane
The daytime schedule includes Liam O’Connor, Guinness World Record holder for the fastest fingers on an accordion, and Misleor, showcasing music from Ireland’s Travelling Community.
Sacred Sites, Julie Goo, An Galar Dub, Rageire, The Alcove, Kiss my Grass, Electric Youth, Cahercalla Rebellion, Áine Deane, Coscan Fogues, Stradbally Choir, Strive Theatre, The Crows Old Gold and DJ Nemo will also perform.
At Hazelwood Afterdark, audiences can expect late-night performances as Gaeilge.
The programme features John Spillane, Bláithín Mhic Chana and Piarais Ó Lorcáin, Lisa Morray, Jessie and the Veil and Lost West.
“This year’s lineup is incredibly diverse and we think it’s an accurate reflection of the range of talent and genres that ‘Irish language music’ encapsulates today,” said Emma Ní Chearúil, Station Manager at Raidió Rí-Rá.
An all-female lineup will open the Hazelwood stage on Thursday, August 28, hosted by comedian Ailish McCarthy.
“As the biggest music and arts festival in Ireland, it is important to us that the Irish language has a place at the heart of Electric Picnic,” said Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic.
“Working with Conradh na Gaeilge and Raidió Rí-Rá over the years, we have seen a rise in the number of Irish language artists who perform at Electric Picnic, and this year we’re also seeing a huge increase in the number of people staying in the Gaeltacht campsite at the festival.”
An Ghaeltacht campsite is limited in capacity and reserved for those wishing to spend the weekend speaking Irish. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.ie.
