Saba to kick off world tour in Dublin next year
Tickets for the Chicago rapper's Irish headliner go on sale this Friday.
Ahead of the release of his highly anticipated new album, Few Good Things, Saba has announced his 'Back Home' world tour for 2022 – which is set to kick off at The Academy, Dublin on March 1.
The Chicago rapper previously played the iconic Dublin venue in 2019, following the release of his lauded album, Care For Me – as well as The Academy Green Room back in 2017, where he was supported by his brother Joseph Chilliams and Jafaris.
Initially rising to global prominence through his collaborations with the likes of Chance The Rapper, Saba has carved out a unique presence in Chicago hip-hop, alongside his Pivot Gang collective.
Dublin artist Nealo previously spoke to Hot Press about drawing inspiration from Saba: "He was definitely an influence, subconsciously."
"We’re similar artists in a lot of ways, and we write about similar stuff," he added. "Stylistically, I’d hope to be close to that whole Chicago scene of Saba, Noname, Mick Jenkins and Chance the Rapper. When you’re listening to a grime rapper, they’re very much on the hi-hats, and they’re very linear. But when you listen to Saba or Mick Jenkins, they go in and out of the beat, and it’s very free-flowing."
Saba's supporting act for the Dublin gig will be hotly tipped Dutch-Sudanese singer-songwriter Gaidaa.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 12, at 10am. See Ticketmaster for more information.
