Rodrigo y Gabriela to record Metallica covers EP

The announcement came during their sold out gig at Crawdaddy last night.

"We are going to release an acoustic of EP of Metallica covers," Rodrigo told the audience. "We have now have the agreement and if they [Metallica] like it, we will make it into an LP."

"It's been a long time that we wanted to release a Metallica album but it's taken ages because we haven't had the authorisation from the fucking bastards, you know," he said joking about his favourite group.

The pair also expressed delight at the sales progress of their new Live in Manchester and Dublin album.

"We saw on Monday that we were in the top 10 chart. It's the first time ever that an instrumental group is ranked in the top 10," added Rodrigo to great applause.
