Rihanna donates $4.2 million to domestic violence victims impacted by COVID-19
She teamed up with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.
Rihanna, patron saint of Pisces everywhere and The Met Ball, has donated over four million dollars to aid domestic violence victims during the Coronavirus lockdowns.
According to a Billboard report, she and Jack Dorsey (CEO of Twitter) joined forces to co-fund the grant. Rihanna is a survivor of domestic violence, having escaped an abusive relationship with R&B artist Chris Brown.
The joint grant will go to the Los Angeles Mayor's Fund, with a focus on the city's shelters, which are overcrowded. The money is apparently enough to provide food, shelter and professional counselling for up to 90 people a week, for 20 weeks.
Less than three weeks ago, Rihanna also pledged $5 million to Coronavirus relief, and Jack Dorsey stunned with a $1 billion (yes, with a 'B') pledge for COVID-19 relief. Some of that funding will go toward a new lobbying LLC that will back a universal basic income.
