"Well of course it was a triumph!"
Well of course it was a triumph. You didn’t really expect any other outcome now, did you? The Frames took their biggest gig to date by the scruff of the neck and rode wave upon wave of local pride and enthusiasm. And yet… and yet they somehow give off the vibe that they are the ones in awe of the whole thing. The reality is that they sound completely at home amongst the big names, that these are some of the best tunes of the weekend and that there are few bands here who can connect with their audience in such a way. So why do they seem to be apologising for their presence? The journey that began with For The Birds has been an astonishing one but it’s now time to drop the plucky underdogs card and move on to the next level. Witnness saw the closing of an extraordinary chapter for The Frames. Now they have to write the next one.
