REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL PART 1: Margo Price, Soccer Mommy, James Blake, Gary Lightbody & The Scratch are all making it seem better today
Here's some quality ear/eye/mouth candy - and beer! - to help you shrug off the self-isolation blues
Taking our cue from the great Ian Dury, we're going to be bringing you a regular roundup of things that are putting a smile on Hot Press faces.
We were just reminiscing about how fab Margo Price's Button Factory gig was a few years back, when up popped this brilliant video of her and her husband, Jeremy Ivey, performing in their Nashville attic on day thirteen of their self-isolation.
Also belting 'em out in her Music City abode is Sophie Allison, AKA Soccer Mommy whose Color Theory is on 'repeat' in HP Towers.
Never a man to short-change, James Blake tickled his ivories for over 74 minutes the other day. You will love every second.
We are seriously looking forward to The Last Right, an Irish comedy that hits digital platforms on March 30. With Michiel Huisman, Niamh Algar, Samuel Bottomley, Brian Cox, Michael McElhatton, Colm Meaney and Jim Norton starring, and an original score supplied by Gary Lightbody, it promises to be a real tonic.
Unlikely to be getting much - well, any – radio airplay is 'Pull Your Jocks Up', a belter from The Scratch who sound like they've been listening to a spot of classic Led Zep and The Who of late. Its parent album, Couldn't Give A Rats, follows tomorrow with lots more swear words and reprehensible behaviour. Which means it's right up Hot Press' alley.
Amnesty Ireland's Colin O'Gorman has been cooking up a storm online with his Pear, Stem Ginger & Hazelnut Crumble with Caramel Custard dessert a thing of unctuous beauty.
Pear, Stem Ginger & Hazelnut Crumble with Caramel Custard - today's #coronacoking is another two-parter. Skip the custard if you don't have time...but it is beautiful and worth the little bit of added effort. pic.twitter.com/5S4keZXA3V

A doff of the Hot Press headphones to Harry Prendergast for his Christy Moore-ing up of 'Bullet In The Head' which, as he rightly points out, is a bit of an aul rebel song.
We have to admit it passed us by when it made its Walter Presents bow last year, but we are devouring Rough Justice, a stylish Belgian police procedural shot in Antwerp. Starring Hilde De Baerdemaeker as Commissioner Liese Meerhout, you'll have it binge-watched in a couple of nights. In case you're wondering, it's known at home as Coppers because it's based on characters created by Toni Coppers.
