Questlove hints at posthumous D’Angelo album: “You'll see soon"
D'Angelo passed away on October 14 at the age of 51.
Questlove has hinted at the release of a posthumous album from late neo-soul pioneer D'Angelo.
While attending the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday, November 8, The Roots drummer was asked about D'Angelo's unreleased recordings.
"You'll see soon," Questlove said.
"With him, it's always the sound of yesterday, but for the future. This record is no different. When it comes out, you'll know"
Questlove previously collaborated with D'Angelo during the singer's sophomore album, Brown Sugar.
He also lent drums and programming for several tracks on D'Angelo's final studio album, Black Messiah.
D'Angelo had been working on his fourth album with R&B singer-songwriter and producer Raphael Saadiq before his death at the age of 51 last month. The album is now planned to be released posthumously.
D'Angelo's family shared the news of his passing on October 14, saying he died "after a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer."
It was later revealed that he died from pancreatic cancer in New York City. A family member reportedly told People he spent two weeks in hospice and had been hospitalised for months prior to his death.
