Queens of the Stone Age release new single 'Easy Street'
Queens of the Stone Age are currently on tour with System of a Down in Europe and the UK before they go back to North America for their stadium tour with Foo Fighters.
Queens of the Stone Age have announced the release of their new single ‘Easy Street.’
The song debuted live last year on the opening night of their Catacombs tour. The last time they released new music was three years ago with their album In Times New Roman.
‘Easy Street’ features vocals from alt-country singer-songwriter Nikki Lane.
“It’s kind of a funny song,” said frontman Josh Homme. “It’s like hitting your funny bone, where it’s funny because it hurts and it hurts because it’s funny. You’re serious, but it’s funny … It’s not just about silliness. It’s about understanding the imperfection of your life.”
‘Easy Street’ is accompanied by a video directed by Tony Wolski and Christopher Gruse, based on a story and idea by Homme. The film sees Homme attempting to outrun a Juggalo, a mall santa, a “leather enthusiast” and a cowboy with his horse.
“In a way, we want to be undefinable,” said the band’s guitarist and keyboardist Dean Fertita in an interview with Hot Press about their concert film, Alive in the Catacombs, last year. “We can do this thing and that thing, and they can be completely opposite, but you can feel the connection.”
Queens of the Stone Age are currently on tour with System of a Down in Europe and the UK before they go back to North America for their stadium tour with Foo Fighters.
Two days ago on July 13, Mastodon announced a new single featuring Homme, titled ‘Snakes for Dinner.’ He also recently appeared on a new song by Shania Twain, ‘Faded Blue Jeans.'
'Easy Street' is available to buy and stream here.
