Punk is Dead… Long Live Karaoke.
An unlikely fusion promises to be a memorable night at The Button Factory on November 5.
If you thought you had to slave away in sweat ridden clubs before achieving a punk rock swagger to rival Sid Vicious, think again. Now, against the odds, the spirit of punk has joined forces with the spirit of Saturday night hen parties - and Punk Rock Karaoke has landed.
The band itself is nothing to be sniffed at. Greg Hetson - guitarist of Bad Religion and Circle Jerks fame - leads the line-up, with Stan Lee (The Dickies), Steve Soto (Adolescents) and Derek O'Brien (Social Distortion) in tow. With tight backing from these well-weathered punks, members of the audience will get the chance to choose a song and act as frontman.
Songs include classic hits from Stiff Little Fingers, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Sham 69, Undertones, Circle Jerks, Ramones, The Damned, Buzzcocks, The Clash, and plenty more. For a full list, visit the website [link]http://www.punkrockkaraoke.com [/link] A sign up sheet will be at the venue.
Tickets for the night of mayhem are €10 and available from [link]www.tickets.ie/umack[/link] and Sound Cellar.
