Foy Vance has released two new songs, 'A.I' and 'Call Me Anytime', marking his debut with Rounder Records.
'A.I.' is a nine-minute song that reflects on the rise of artificial intelligence. Vance described it as a "prison yard lament" and said he recorded it multiple times, each time being different from the last to highlight human imperfection.
Vance said he was interested in what separates people from AI. "It's a dystopian thought but it got me curious about what we have that AI lacks, and the answer is imperfection," he explained.
'Call Me Anytime' focuses on Vance's experiences with fatherhood. The track is a simple, emotional ballad built around his vocals and minimal instrumentation.
Both songs were written by Vance and produced by Ethan Johns, known for his work with Paul McCartney and Ray LaMontagne.
Vance has released several albums over his career, including Hope, Joy of Nothing, The Wild Swan and Signs of Life.
