As Gaughan points out, musical apprenticeships never really end, and he’s been serving his for half a century. The finest fruits of that process are all here, from an uncompromisingly traditional rendition of ‘The Cruel Brother’ recorded in 1977 to recently-composed material from his 2001 album Outlaws & Dreamers. Essential listening.
