One of Irish hip-hop’s most hotly tipped rising stars, Kildare’s Craig Cooney, returns after an eight-month hiatus with ‘Careful’. The track finds him joining forces with acclaimed producer Chris Kabs – whose fingerprints can be found all over JYellowL’s Choice Music Prize-nominated debut album, 2020 D|Vision.
Incorporating drill influences, the pair bring a fresh new flavour to the homegrown hip-hop scene – with additional vocals courtesy of London-based artist Hxney.
On the hard-hitting track, Craig raps about his come-up, and the importance of staying true to himself while finding success.
The 25-year-old artist has been making music since 2018. He decided to record music professionally after uploading a freestyle rap video to Facebook – which soon amassed over 187,000 views worldwide. Since then, Craig has been featured on the line-up for FM104's The Gig at the Olympia Theatre, alongside the likes of Gavin James, Wild Youth, Chasing Abbey, Soulé and Wyvern Lingo.
There are also rumours that a collaborative EP from Craig and Chris could be in the pipeline – so watch this space...
