PREMIERE: Belfast musician The Zang shares new album The Point of No Return
One of Northern Ireland's biggest indie talents, The Zang, will share a brand new record tomorrow - listen to it here first!
Hot Press is delighted to exclusively premiere the new album from The Zang, The Point of No Return,, ahead of its official release tomorrow (August 6).
The follow-up to the Belfast native's self-titled debut record has been widely anticipated, with singles such as 'International Man of Misery' whetting fans' appetites.
"The album was borne from buying a looper pedal in around March 2020," says The Zang (real name Chris Molloy) in a statement accompanying the release.
"At that stage, there was no real consideration of an album. ‘Where Do You Go?’ came first. I worked on that song for the longest out of all the songs and couldn’t get it right. And then I did. After that, everything else just fell into place."
The record is also thematically split, with Chris explaining that "the first half speaks about the problems that I was dealing with in my life. Depression, alcohol abuse, drug use and self-medication, money problems, how I am with other people. A hard self-critique soul search that wasn’t easy to do."
"The second half is more about positive and external forces," Molloy continues. "Self-forgiveness, moving forward, being present, love, looking for happiness and letting go of all of the emotional baggage that doesn’t matter at all."
