Find ticket information for the upcoming gigs below.
Wexford musician Pierce Turner has announced three upcoming live shows with Aongus Mac Amhlaigh on cello and vocals.
The performances include gigs at Whelan's on November 16, the Wexford Art's Centre on December 23 and Joe's Pub at the Public Theatre in New York City on March 14, 2026.
Turner, who has released fifteen original albums in all, established himself as a solo artist with his debut album It's Only a Long Way Across, released in 1987, which was nominated for Best Debut Issued by an Independent Record Company at the New York Music Awards, as well as his earlier collaborations with Larry Kirwan of Black 47. The two made their start as the duo The Free Thinkers.
Turner has worked with acclaimed composer Philip Glass and has had his songs covered by artists including Chrsty Moore, who recorded bith 'Wicklow Hills' and 'Musha God Help Her'.
Aongus Mac Amhlaigh, who is set to accompany him on stage, is a cellist and singer from Donegal. He has collaborated with many Irish artists including The Beautiful South, Niamh Bury, Ispini na hEireann and Nocturnes. He has also performed solo at festivals such as Electric Picnic and All Together Now.
Turner most recently published his debut book Living by the River, which was launched in January 2025 with an event at the Wexford Library. He is currently working on an upcoming movie called 3 Minute World, named after his 2001 concept album of the same name.
The 'Uncertain Smile' singer's most recent release was a rendition of the hymn 'Glorious St. Patrick' in 2024, in response to the recent rise in far right anti-migrant aggression across Ireland. Pierce released his latest studio album Terrible Good in 2022.
