Pat The Baker announces song competition
Pat The Baker, until now a relative stranger to the world of rock and roll, is inviting bands and solo artists to record their famous theme tune, with a €5,000 prize on offer.
The competition, which will begin in November, will involve all comers uploading a YouTube video of themselves performing the song.
"Already we have had interest from a 'Gorillaz' type virtual band and a sixty piece Welsh choir, so there will be a lot of talent getting involved", according to Oliver Durkin, Brand Manager at Pat The Baker.
"The Pat The Baker song can be sung by most of the population. Our new TV ad (pictured) reflects the ownership people feel towards the tune; and I'd like this competition to maintain that."
Further competition details will be announced in the next issue of Hot Press, which hits the newsstands on September 11. The competition will also be promoted on Bebo, and stays open until January 2009.
