Parquet Courts announce reissue of debut album American Specialties
The New York garage rockers are giving you another chance to hear their earlier work.
Parquet Courts have announced a reissue of their debut album American Specialities that was originally released in 2011.
The record, originally released on cassette on the record label Cut the Cord That, will be put out again on July 30, limited to just 1,500 copies on their current label Rough Trade.
It will be mastered by member of Total Control, Mikey Young, giving the first rough draft of the group's work a fresh new update. The release will also feature a zine created by vocalist Andrew Savage.
Bassist Sean Yeaton said in a video announcing the release that “I feel like [the songs] make more sense now than they did then because, honestly, I don’t even think I know how to play the songs,”
“There were a few shows I didn’t even go to – sorry about that guys. I really wasn’t taking it seriously then.”
Yeaton will also write expanded liner notes to accompany the album. It is unclear yet if the album will be made available on streaming services upon its physical reissue.
Hot Press' Selina Juengling enthused about Parquet Courts 2019 Electric Picnic set, proclaiming that "Punk rock is alive and going strong."
"The gloomy atmosphere at the Cosby Tent by night was the perfect location for Parquet Courts and their dark, experimental punk rock."
You can pre-order the vinyl reissue at parquet-courts.com.
