Ozzy Osbourne's cause of death revealed
The Black Sabbath Frontman's death certificate was submitted by his daughter Aimee, in London
Ozzy Osbourne's official cause of death has been revealed two weeks after the heavy metal legend passed away, at the age of 76.
The New York Times reported that the Black Sabbath frontman passed away from "acute myocardial infarction", meaning the death of tissue resulting from the failure of blood supply to an organ, or a heart attack.
The certificate also noted that Parkinson's disease and coronary heart disease contributed to Osbourne's death.
The Black Sabbath frontman had suffered a number of health issues, including neck injuries related to a quad-biking accident in 2003. Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019, after another fall, which exacerbated his previous injuries.
The singer's death certificate was submitted by his daughter, Aimee Osbourne, in London. Notably, the document listed his occupation as "Songwriter, Performer and Rock Legend."
Osbourne died on the July 22, shortly after his final gig at Villa Park, in his hometown of Birmingham. He was laid to rest at his on the grounds of his UK home in a private ceremony, attended by his family, and industry friends other industry friends like Metallica and Elton John.
Prior to the private funeral, his hearse made its way through Birmingham. Thousands of fans gathered to pay their respects to the Prince of Darkness.
During the procession, Sharon Osbourne and her children, Jack, Kelly and Aimee stopped by a fan memorial at Sabbath Bench and Bridge to read letters and notes left by fans. Sharon was visibly emotional as she lay flowers down beside the many tributes for her husband.
Kelly Osbourne thanked fans for their support on Friday.
"I’ve sat down to write this a hundred times and still don’t know if the words will ever feel like enough,” she said on Instagram.
“But from the bottom of my heart, thank you. The love, support, and beautiful messages I’ve received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain."
"Grief is a strange thing, It sneaks up on you in waves. I will not be ok for a while, but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I’m holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind", she added.
Black Sabbath's final gig in Villa Park raised nearly $200 million for Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital and Acorns Children's Hospital, making it one of the highest grossing charity concerts of all time.
