Other Voices release full video of Lucy Dacus and Hozier at the National Gallery of Ireland
Watch the two artists discuss their collaboration below.
Other Voices have released the full video of Lucy Dacus's intimate session at the National Gallery of Ireland, featuring a duet and conversation with Hozier.
The video was released in advance of Dacus's gig at Iveagh Gardens in Dublin tonight, part of the UK and Europe leg for her Forever Is A Feeling Tour. Hozier is set to headline Electric Picnic in August. The duo collaborated on the track 'Bullseye' from Dacus's Forever Is A Feeling album, which featured as the final song in the Other Voices set.
“Forever grateful to Hozier, and thankful to the National Gallery of Ireland,” Dacus said. “I can’t believe they let us sing in there – it felt like getting away with something you’d dream up as a child.”
In the video, the two artists took a break in between songs to reflect on their friendship and the creation of 'Bullseye.' Hozier praised Dacus's songwriting talent in 'Bullseye'.
"It makes a really beautiful kind of back and forth ... like a kind of dialogue," said Hozier in the video.
"You have a way of looking at small everyday things and then finding a way of drawing out how they're tied indelibly to people and relationships. It brings so much intimacy and so much tenderness to everyday things."
Dacus described meeting Hozier at a show with her band Boygenius in Boston when Hozier joined them for a rendition of 'Salt in the Wound'. The two went on to perform together again in various surprise appearances at each other's tours, including a duet of Hozier's ‘I, Carrion (Icarian)’ at his New York headliner.
The performance was Dacus's debut with Other Voices, which hosted and filmed the set in the National Gallery's historic Shaw Room. Philip King, founder of Other Voices, praised the event in a statement.
“It was a remarkable occasion. Two of the world’s most gifted creative artists – Hozier and Lucy Dacus – raising their voices to sing together in sweet harmony,” King said.
"There’s something profoundly moving about witnessing a creative connection like that unfold in a space that holds so much of our national story. It was a true honour to capture it.”
