Omagh's Phil Taggart gets BBC Radio 1 show
Alongside Alice Levine, he will host a slot once held by Nick Grimshaw.
Big news for young Northern Irish broadcaster Phil Taggart. The BBC has announced that the 25 year-old is set to co-host the prestigious weeknight slot on Radio 1 with Alice Levine.
The pair begin their new show on Monday January 7, which will air Monday to Thursday from 10pm to midnight. Most recently, the timeslot was held by Nick Grimshaw, who has gone on to host the biggest job in British radio – Radio 1's Breakfast Show.
Taggart previously won the BBC/Skillset Young Broadcaster Of The Year award whilst studying at the University Of Ulster, has hosted Radio Ulster's Across The Line and has been the voice of BBC Introducing in Northern Ireland. He has stood in for the likes of Sara Cox and Huw Stephens of late, and has now secured his own programme.
