Folk thrills from underrated cork songwriter
Ger Wolfe’s songs have been recorded by John Spillane, Karan Casey and Sharon Shannon among others. The fifth album from the highly regarded Cork-born tunesmith is produced by composer and musician Peadar O’Riada at his studio in Cúil Aodh, Co. Cork. He keeps things simple throughout, on well-turned out songs such as ‘No Bird Sang’, ‘Take My Hand’ and ‘I Have Been Loved’, allowing just his acoustic guitar and distinctive vocals to shine through. He has a poet’s eye for lyrics as evinced by ‘When The Stars Shine’ and ‘Sorrow’s River’. Well worth a listen.
