No Bird Sang
Folk thrills from underrated cork songwriter
Ger Wolfe’s songs have been recorded by John Spillane, Karan Casey and Sharon Shannon among others. The fifth album from the highly regarded Cork-born tunesmith is produced by composer and musician Peadar O’Riada at his studio in Cúil Aodh, Co. Cork. He keeps things simple throughout, on well-turned out songs such as ‘No Bird Sang’, ‘Take My Hand’ and ‘I Have Been Loved’, allowing just his acoustic guitar and distinctive vocals to shine through. He has a poet’s eye for lyrics as evinced by ‘When The Stars Shine’ and ‘Sorrow’s River’. Well worth a listen.
