Nielsen Music Control to close its Dublin office
It is part of the wider closure of their European Airplay Service.
Nielsen Music is set to remove its airplay operations in Europe. This means the closure of its Irish base on August 31.
International Operations Manager Feidhlim Byrne tells Hot Press that he was informed in early June, and could sense such a decision was coming.
There are three people employed in the Dublin office, including Mr. Byrne.
Byrne has been involved with each of Nielsen's 18 markets, overseeing five of those.
He originally joined what was then known as Music Control in 1996. Nielsen has been responsible for producing the Official Airplay Chart and providing reports to clients all across Ireland, providing a detailed breakdown of where and when songs are being played.
After August 31, the Irish Airplay Chart will now be handled by the UK company Radiomonitor.
SoundScan International and US and Canada services will continue to operate and no other Nielsen service is affected.
