New to Hot Press: Luz
Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Luz has big things coming up.
At just 18-years-old, Luz Corrigan, or just Luz as she is known on stage, is one of the most promising young artists of the year. With a stunning voice that pierces the soul, she is certainly tough to ignore. The singer-songwriter caught our ear early on with covers on Youtube and Instagram from artists like Dermot Kennedy and Kodaline. She has impressively already gigged at Vicar Street, where she opened up for Dean Lewis. "His music has been influential to me, along with one of my longtime favourites, Ed Sheeran," she says.
Luz's original music is incredibly compelling. Hailing from the small-town of Ferbane, Co. Offlay, she goes on to tell us that her environment only served as more motivation to break out and be successful. "I want to prove that no matter where you come from you can do it" she explains. It certainly seems a possibility she could do it, too.
"Recently, I finished a tour with Little Hours, and in December I'll be gigging in London with Wild Youth," she informs me. "I also won a contest with Today FM, which gave me the chance to support Kodaline."
In the meantime, she has been in the studio working on a new batch of songs, which she hopes will be out in the coming year. Keep your eyes peeled for what's to come from Luz. She just might be Ireland's next sensation.
