Neil Young & Crazy Horse announce new album 'BARN'
The upcoming LP BARN promises to recapture the wild spirit of Neil Young & Crazy Horse's rock and roll love ballads.
Neil Young and Crazy Horse are back together with their new collaboration BARN, which is set to be released on December 10th.
Young and Crazy Horse first joined forces back in 1969, releasing the album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. The record proved to be quite the sleeper hit – peaking at number 34 during a 94-week chart stay. Since then the legendary singer and the band have collaborated on 12 studio albums, including last year's Way Down In The Rust Bucket and 2019's Colorado.
Crazy Horse were formed when Young asked three members of the Rockets, a psychedelic pop/folk group from Los Angeles, to play backup on his sophomore solo album – his old band Buffalo Springfield having broken up a few years prior. The initial team-up blossomed into a decade long partnership. The current band line-up is made up of Ralph Molina on drums, Billy Talbot on electric bass and multi-instrumentalist Nils Lofgren.
Their upcoming LP BARN features 10 folk-rock songs with the raw, emotional rock and roll ballads that epitomise Neil Young and Crazy Horse. The project was recorded last summer in a restored off-grid 19th-century barn in the Rockies. The first single - launching off with a riff of Young's iconic harmonica - was released on October 16th.
A new film will be released alongside the deluxe version of the album, directed by Daryl Hannah and capturing a candid portrait of the band in their element. The Blu-ray film will also be available as a stand-alone release.
The album was produced by The Volume Dealers – Neil Young and Niko Bolas – and will be released on December 10th, 2021 on Reprise Records.
