Nas executive produced the record along with Hit-Boy.
Nas shared a surprise new record called Magic featuring A$AP Rocky and DJ Premier.
The American rapper announced the album early on Thursday with an Instagram post. “Magic is in the air. Midnight et brand new music to vibe to,” he captioned the post and shared the cover art along with the tracklist.
Nas — whose real name is Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones — released Magic at midnight last night (December 23rd) via mass appeal. A$AP Rocky and DJ Premier appear on ‘Wave Gods’ on the album.
Magic includes references to some of hip-hop’s biggest names including Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Gang Starr. Nas also paid tribute to the late Virgil Abloh and Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
Hit-Boy and Nas have worked together before, most notably on the Grammy-winning King’s Disease I and on the record’s sequel. The pair also worked together on the single ‘Big Nas’ and ‘Life is Like a Dice Game.’
The new project follows the rapper’s Grammy-nominated album King’s Disease II which dropped earlier in 2021 as the sequel to King’s Disease. The 2020 album also included features from Eminem, Lauryn Hill, EPMD, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and YG.
Outside of music, Nas has been flexing his business muscles. In October, he announced that he had become co-owner and equity partner in cigar brand Escobar Cigars.
