My 2019: Hozier
Hozier reveals the highlights of the year in his recap of 2019.
Your hero of 2019?
Would have to be Mavis Staples. I was lucky enough to join her onstage a few times, and she's also joined us. Every time I see her, she brings so much joy to everyone's life.
Villain of 2019?
Brexit.
Best personal moment?
Would have been in March – hitting number one on the Billboard album charts in the US for Wasteland, Baby! was a great personal moment.
Best movie?
I really enjoyed JoJo Rabbit – a stunning film.
Best record?
Really enjoyed Vampire Weekend's record this year – listened to it many, many times.
Best TV programme?
This Way Up. Aisling Bea is a queen and a legend and everyone should watch it.
Best book?
Boulevard Wren and Other Stories by Blindboy.
Best thing about the year?
The tour – it's been so encouraging connecting with fans. I've really enjoyed playing the record live.
Your hope for next year?
Bit of rest and resuscitation and writing the next album.
What tickled your funny bone?
My rhythm section Rory Doyle and Alex Ryan making me laugh. And a few people I follow on Twitter like @nwalks.
