Minister for Culture over €1.1 million in funding for global promotion of Irish arts
Among the grant recipients are Gurriers, Just Mustard, Junior Brother, DUG, Scustin, Dea Matrona, Zoé Basha and more.
Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport Patrick O'Donovan has announced over €1.1 million in funding for the global promotion of Irish arts.
Allocated under Culture Ireland's Regular Grants Programme, the funding will benefit over 129 projects taking place in 33 countries.
"Through this funding, we are showcasing Ireland’s rich artistic talent on the global stage and strengthening our cultural connections," O'Donovan said.
O'Donovan added the funding "highlights the Government’s commitment to supporting Irish artists and cultural organisations in reaching international audiences."
Grant recipients span a wide range of artistic disciplines, including music, circus, dance, literature, film, opera and more.
Among the recipients are musical acts Gurriers, Just Mustard, Scustin, Junior Brother, Dylan Flynn and The Dead Poets, Hothouse Flowers, Nerves, Big Sleep, The Cardinals, Dea Matrona and Zoé Basha, who have all been funded for international headline shows.
Basha, who received €3,500 for a tour of Switzerland in December, is set to perform as a special guest at Villagers' Windmill Live show on Thursday, October 30.
Funding has also been allocated for BIIRD to support Ed Sheeran in New Zealand and Australia, DUG to support The Wood Brothers in the United States and M(h)aol to support Lambrini Girls in Europe.
