Its become a growing genre in Hollywood of late, the depiction of the real life business mogul. Think Steve Jobs, The Wolf of Wall Street and now it's Michael Keaton's turn as the man who founded the biggest food brand of our time.
Well, the poster is slightly more indiscreet about the story of McDonald's founder with the tagline 'He took someone else's idea and American ate it up.'
Michael Keaton is Hollywood's main man following his critically lauded performance in 2014's Birdman and this year in Spotlight but his attention now turns to the story behind shrewd salesman Ray Kroc. Many of us will be unfamiliar with Ray Kroc but he is the man behind the infamous fast-food chain McDonald's. In the 1950's, Kroc saw the potential in the small restaurant owned by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald. Through his canny charm, Kroc wielded his way into the family business and bought the brothers out for a $2.7 million price tag. McDonald's today as we know it is worth a staggering $61 billion.
The Founder is another in the long line of films and documentaries devoted to the study of the cultural phenomenon that is McDonald's, most notably 2004's Super Size Me. John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) is in the director's chair with a script courtesy of Robert D. Siegel (The Wrestler) and starring alongside Keaton is Laura Dern, Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch.
An Irish release date is yet to be announced but we shall keep you posted.
