Metronomy and Oscar Cash announce new album: ‘Oscar Cash Forever’

Electronic indie-pop collective Metronomy announced last night via Metronomy TV the release of ‘Oscar Cash Forever’.

Created by Metronomy member and multi-instrumentalist Oscar Cash, the new album is a collection of original tracks inspired by songs from the band’s 2019 album Metronomy Forever.

‘Oscar Cash Forever’ originally featured as a surprise vinyl in the deluxe physical edition of Metronomy Forever, but is now getting its own digital release.

Frontman Joe Mount says, “Oscar Cash could be the artist of his generation. I wish he’d just put out more of his own music. I hope that this gives him some confidence and that one day we will all hear a proper album from Oscar. For now, ‘Oscar Cash Forever’ is all we have...and I love it”.

About the project, Oscar explains, “In late 2018 me and my wife moved to San Francisco, there in our apartment, I set up a small music studio. Metronomy weren’t touring at that time and other than exploring the city, all I was doing was making beats.”

"‘Oscar Cash Forever’ reminds me of the music I made in my early twenties," he explains. "The same sounds that echoed from mine and Joe’s shared flat in 2003. Hopefully all the little borrowed phrases reveal themselves in new ways along the way. This jazzy and atmospheric exploration is meant to be listened to as a mixtape. It’s a companion piece to the original masterpiece; ‘Metronomy Forever’. Enjoy,” Oscar writes.

During this time of social isolation, Metronomy have been doing their bit to entertain fans with their new weekly series ‘MTV’ (Metronomy TV), taking place on their Instagram Live every Monday evening.

Jumping from Joe Mount’s studio to bandmates and special guests across the globe, activities on MTV include life drawing, cooking classes with Monty’s Deli head chef Owen Barrett, Thought Of The Week with MT Hadley, live darts, language learning, performances, Q&As and more.

As a result of the ongoing situation with COVID-19 worldwide, Metronomy have postponed their European tour, due to take place across March and April.
