Punk artist Meryl Streek has announced a show at Dublin's Academy on December 17, with guest performers The Chisel.
The Dublin producer mixes experimental electronica with punk elements, and his music is heavily influenced by his Irish culture and society.
His solo career started when he left his former band to focus on the struggles of everyday people in Ireland:
“I just said, ‘I need to do my own thing’ and try to help the ordinary people in Ireland who've been suffering,” said Streek. “I know what it’s like to feel betrayed and hurt, and I want to devote my life to helping others as best I can."
"The music may sound vicious to some, but times are changing, and the government here in Ireland isn't," he explained.

Streek released his debut album, 796, in November 2022, which spotlighted the 796 bodies of children found in a septic tank at Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home in Taum.
His latest LP, Songs for the Deceased, was produced by Dan Doherty at Darklands Audio in Dublin. The 2024 record features Benefits frontman Kingsley Hall and Cal Graham from The Chisel on the tracks 'Interlude' and 'Dogs'.
In late 2024, Streek performed a string of shows in Ireland and the UK, including a show at Whelan's in support of Songs for the Deceased.
