Mercury Prize nominees unveiled
The 2011 Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize has been announced by Lauren Laverne in London’s Hospital Club.
Adele, Elbow, PJ Harvey and Tinie Tempah are among 12 nominees who could be crowned on September 6.
If you fancy a little – or massive great big flutter – we’ll give you the HP tips shortly. The early 4/1 favourite to pick up the gong and a tidy sum of £20,000 is Ms. Harvey, but we reckon there’s good value to be had elsewhere in a strong list of nominees:
Anna Calvi – Anna Calvi
Elbow – Build A Rocket Boy
Katy B – On A Mission
James Blake – James Blake
PJ Harvey – Let England Shake
Tinie Tempah – Disc-O-Very
Metronomy – English Riviera
Adele – 21
Gwilym Simcock – Good Days At Schloss Elmau
Everything Everything – Man Alive
Ghostpoet – Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam
King Creosote & Jonn Hopkins – Diamond Mine
Recent winners include The XX, Elbow, The Klaxons and Arctic Monkeys.
