Global Beatles Day to take place online and in-person this month
The annual celebrations are set for June 25.
This year’s annual Global Beatles Day, set for June 25, will take place both online and in person around the world.
Marking the anniversary of The Beatles’ BBC Our World performance of ‘All You Need Is Love’, this year’s celebration will include the release of a colorised video of the iconic performance for free on YouTube.
Originally aired on June 26, 1967, the first international satellite television broadcast of the song ‘All You Need Is Love’ reached an estimated 400 million people around the globe.
Global Beatles Day was created in 2009 by lifelong fan Faith Cohen and is a fan-made, fan-run celebration dedicated to the band and their music.
This year, Apple Corps Ltd, the company founded by The Beatles to manage their creative and business ventures, has formally acknowledged Global Beatles Day.
Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene praised the fan-led initiative last week, writing: “More than ever, the message of The Beatles, and of ‘All You Need Is Love’ speaks to something vital for community, connection, and the power of bringing people together. That is what makes Global Beatles Day so special. It asks nothing more than for people, wherever they are, to stop, listen, and share a little joy.”
