Martin Leahy releases new single 'The Death Of Adrian Moynihan'
The track comes as an homage to Adrian Moynihan, who passed away 25 years ago following an incident at the Sidetrax nightclub in Cork city.
Musician and activist Martin Leahy has released a new track titled 'The Death Of Adrian Moynihan', coming as an homage to Adrian Moynihan, who passed away on March 26, 2001 following an incident at the Sidetrax nightclub in Cork city.
Although a 2003 inquest had found that Moynihan had died of asphyxiation arising from the manner in which he was restrained at the club, the jury delivered a verdict of death by misadventure, and resulted in no prosecutions.
Adrian’s family are still seeking justice as we approach the 25th anniversary of his passing, and wrote to the Justice Committee to raise concerns about the process of inquests in Ireland back in 2022.
In 2004, Adrian’s father, Andrew, went on hunger strike outside the Dáil in protest, wanting to secure a public inquiry into Adrian’s death.
That same year, his mother, Lily, also contested the European Parliament election to raise awareness of the family’s campaign.
