Mark Ronson scores UK No. 1 with 'Uptown Funk'
Bruno Mars collaboration shoots straight into top spot
Was it all a big conspiracy? Or a genuine musical emergency?
We at HP couldn't possibly speculate, but the end result could scarcely be more clear-cut - Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk' has shot straight in at No. 1 in the UK.
The song was, by all accounts, scheduled for release next month, but a performance of the song on The X Factor by beaten finalist Fleur East caused its release date to be rushed forward. Some suggested shady dealings within the Simon Cowell/Sony camp, but really, what does it matter? A good tune is a good tune, right?!
Bruno Mars has reached the lofty heights of the chart summit before, but it's a first for uber-producer Ronson; the highest his own compositions had previously reached was No. 2.
