Maria Kelly to launch classic album listening series Field Notes
Kelly's previous music credits include the trailer for RTÉ’s Conversations with Friends and the international trailer for EZRA, starring Robert De Niro.
Irish singer-songwriter Maria Kelly has announced a new series of intimate listening events, Field Notes, celebrating classic albums by some of Ireland’s most acclaimed artists.
The series will launch on Culture Night, September 19, at Segotia Dublin with a guided listening of Sinéad O’Connor’s The Lion and the Cobra.
Kelly will lead the audience through each track, offering reflections and prompts for accompanying journal exercises.
She describes the event as an opportunity for attendees to be "completely present with a piece of work, no screens, no skipping, no passive listening as you do a million other things."

Subsequent Field Notes sessions will feature:
October 10 – Lisa Hannigan’s At Swim
November 7 – Villagers’ Darling Arithmetic
November 28 – Fionn Regan’s The End of History
Earlier this year, Kelly released her second album, Waiting Room. Speaking to Hot Press at the time, she described how her own life shaped the project.
“I’m always writing, and it turns into a project at some point down the line,” she said.
“But this album really came from a period where I spent a lot of time in an actual waiting room. I dealt with a lot of chronic pain in my mid-twenties, and I was in a cycle of figuring out the cause. I spent a lot of time in that world, so it seeped into what I was writing about.”
For those interested, tickets for the Field Notes listening events are available here.
