Machine Head confirm Dublin return
Metal gods will visit The Olympia in March
Billed as An Evening With Machine Head - though, we dare to suggest, a little different to those TV specials you used to see on ITV - heavy metal gods Machine Head are on their way back to Dublin.
The group are promising a two-hour set of bone-crunching anthems, unburdened by support acts. The band had been questioned about their policy of hitting the road alone - and eschewing the opportunity to play festivals - but guitarist and vocalist Robb Flynn has addressed such inquiries rather succinctly.
"We’re not trying to have a good time with a bunch of people who don’t know who we are," said the frontman. "If Machine Head throws a party, big or small, we don’t want a bunch of ‘strangers’ there. This is about us and you guys, the die-hards, the Head Cases, The Fucking Undesirables! We don’t care about the others out there. We’re here and we’re not going anywhere. If those people want to be a part of this, they know where to find us. So for the time being, and maybe ‘forever’, we’re done reaching out for them."
If Machine Head are more than enough for you, then March 6 is the date for your diaries. Tickets for the Olympia Theatre are on sale from Friday, priced at €31.
